Star Safari has camera NZ002D of the Global Meteor Network (GMN), in New Zealand, the network is run by Fireballs Aotearoa. This network was used to locate the Takapō meteorite in May 2024. It is fantastic to be able to play a part in this project. Below is a 3D model of the meteors that our camera has contributed to tracking. NZ002D looks North and covers about 20% of the sky. When multiple cameras detect a meteor then the direction, position and velocity can be calculated. The map shows the trajectory of the metors picked up in the period shown in the upper left.
